First steps while you wait

Step 1

Keep clear of wet outlets, cords and appliances.

Step 2

Use the breaker only if you can reach the panel without standing in water.

Step 3

Close the main water valve when a pipe or fixture is leaking.

Step 4

Take photos of the water, how high it reached and what it damaged, before moving anything.

Step 5

Get keepsakes, papers and electronics up off the floor once the pictures are done.

Mitigation done thoroughly

Our work is the urgent part of a water loss: getting the water out, finding everywhere it went and drying the structure until the readings prove it. Materials that can’t be properly dried are removed; everything else is dried in place. Then you get a clean handoff to the contractor who makes the repairs.

What that covers:

  • Standing water removal
  • Moisture mapping with meters and thermal imaging
  • Structural drying of walls, subfloors, hardwood and framing
  • Photos and daily readings for your adjuster
  • A dry record and a prepped property for your contractor

How the DrySmart Process works

Vantage DrySmart Process badge

Find it

Moisture meters and thermal imaging show where water slipped under flooring, behind baseboards and into wall cavities. Every reading is logged and photographed.

Dry it

After extraction, commercial dehumidifiers, air movers and hardwood floor drying mats go where the moisture map says they’re needed.

Prove it

Readings continue until the wet areas match dry materials elsewhere in your home.

Ready for your contractor

You get the moisture map, the reading log and photos, and the property is prepped for repairs.

Where the water comes from

  • Supply lines and pipes: a split line under a sink or inside a wall
  • Appliances: washer hoses, dishwashers, refrigerators and water heaters
  • Frozen pipes: breaks that often show up when the ice thaws
  • Heavy rain and snowmelt: water pushing in through foundation cracks and window wells

When a pipe, fixture or sump pump is the cause, a plumber makes that repair. We take care of the water and the drying.

Signs of hidden water damage

  • Stains or bubbling paint on a ceiling or wall
  • Baseboards that are swelling or separating
  • Floors that feel soft, cup or lift at the seams
  • A damp, earthy smell in one room
  • Carpet that stays wet along a wall
  • A water bill higher than usual

Water damage questions

What should I do first when water gets in?

Stay away from anything electrical that’s wet, shut off the water if a pipe is leaking and photograph the damage before you move things.

Why measure moisture if the floor looks dry?

Drywall, subfloors and framing keep holding water long after surfaces feel dry. Readings tell us when the structure is actually dry, so nothing gets closed up wet.

Who makes the repairs after drying?

A contractor does. Our part ends with the structure dry and documented, and the moisture map, readings and photos go with it so repairs start on proven-dry materials.

Are you available 24/7?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency water damage response, and arrival is typically within 60 minutes in most of our service area.

Do you work with my insurance company?
