Before help arrives

Step 1

Safety comes first.

Don’t step into water that could touch outlets, cords or appliances. Flip the breaker only from a dry spot.

Step 2

Shut the water off.

If a pipe or fixture is leaking, close the main shutoff.

Step 3

Photograph it.

Capture the water, the height it reached and the damage before anything moves.

Step 4

Rescue the important things.

After the photos, move documents, keepsakes and electronics out of the wet area.

Step 5

Let air in.

If it’s safe, crack windows and doors.

What our water damage work covers

Hard freezes, fast snowmelt and heavy summer rain all send water into Northwest Indiana homes. Whatever the source, our job is to stop the damage, dry the structure and prove it. We dry materials in place whenever they can be properly dried, and remove the ones that can’t.

  • Pulling out standing water
  • Moisture mapping with meters and thermal imaging
  • Drying floors, walls and framing, confirmed with readings
  • Mold remediation when we find mold
  • A documented handoff, with the property prepped for your contractor
  • Single-family homes, apartment buildings and commercial properties

Find it

We scan with moisture meters and thermal imaging to follow the water under floors and inside walls, recording and photographing as we go.

Dry it

Once pooled water is out, dehumidifiers, air movers and hardwood floor drying mats are placed according to the moisture map.

Prove it

We keep logging readings until damp materials match dry ones in the same house.

Handoff

The property is prepped for your contractor, with the moisture map, reading log and photos to go with it.

Common sources of water damage

  • Frozen lines that split in outside walls and crawlspaces
  • Appliance failures: water heaters, washing machines, ice makers, dishwashers
  • Storm water coming through foundation cracks or a wind-damaged roof
  • Snowmelt soaking the ground and finding the basement

A plumber repairs broken pipes and sump pumps. We clean up the water and dry the house. If wind or hail opened the roof or siding, our storm damage service covers that separately.

Signs water is hiding somewhere

  • Ceiling spots that grow or turn brown
  • Paint blistering low on a wall
  • Laminate or hardwood lifting at the edges
  • A musty odor in a closet or basement
  • Baseboards pulling away from the wall
  • Visible mold, which means moisture has been there a while

Water damage FAQ

How long does drying take?

It depends on the amount of water, how long it sat and what absorbed it. We take readings throughout and keep you posted until the materials are dry.

What happens when the drying is done?

We remove our equipment and hand off a dry, documented property. Your adjuster and your contractor get the moisture map, the readings and the photos.

Can mold follow water damage?

Yes, when materials stay wet. That’s why we dry quickly, check hidden areas and offer mold remediation if it has started.

Is help available 24/7?

Yes. Water damage response is 24/7, and our crew is typically within 60 minutes of most homes we serve in Northwest Indiana.

Will insurance pay for water damage?

It depends on your policy and the cause. We work with your insurance company and give your adjuster our documentation. Your claim is between you and your insurance company.
